Moving a shipping container may seem like quite the feat, but in reality, there are tried and tested practices that help make the transport and delivery of shipping containers quick and easy. Whether you need to transport a shipping container locally, interstate, or overseas, there is a method available.

Transporting and Delivering Locally and Interstate

Depending on your location and requirements, there are a number of different delivery options for local drop-offs across Australia, including domestic shipping container transport, container relocations and container delivery. South West Containers has found that the most common method of delivery within the country is via the Tilt Tray, due to its convenience and cheaper price. Transporting containers by road is a flexible method and allows you to drop off at a specific location, allowing you to save time. If you have clear access to where you would like to place the container, then a Tilt Tray is the perfect solution. This method of delivery suits containers of different sizes with 10ft, 20ft, and 40ft containers all able to use a Tilt Tray, and it doesn’t require any type of certificate or international approvals.

Other options for local transport and delivery offered by South West Containers include a crane truck for 10ft and 20ft containers, and a side loader for 20ft and 40ft containers that are loaded and full. The semi-trailer/flat top option can be a cost-effective way to transport a container. It tends to be the cheaper option – especially for long haul deliveries. However, this option is only suitable for locations where there is a machine such as a crane or forklift to load and unload onsite, as the semi-trailer/flat top does not have the ability to do so by itself.  In addition, rail is the most common choice for containers that need to travel interstate or on a long haul.
